Looking for a new challenge? Try this hybrid! Its a hybrid of Les Mills Combat and Les Mills Pump! Two excellent programs! I’m about to start week 6 and I’m loving it! My endurance has increased, as has my strength! I highly recommend hybrid programs for anyone looking to spice up their workout routines.

Just to show you a bit of my progress…. in the last 8 months, I have lost 50 lbs. And that is largely in part to Combat and Shakeology! I have to give some credit to Turbofire as well 🙂 But Combat has been my main program for the last 8 weeks.

The first picture is me at 39 weeks pregnant. I was so heavy I refused to have any pictures taken. This was an exception because it was our anniversary. The second picture was about 3 months postpartum. I had the all clear to work out again and was ready to get to it! The last picture was taken last week! 50lbs gone! I still have work to do, but I strive for progress, not perfection.

How many calories…?

This is something that has been DRIVING ME BANANAS!

Everybody seems to think that 1200cal/day is a one size fits all dieting fix. Even worse, people believe that to lose weight they need to eat even less than 1200 calories a day. When I see this, I have to close my eyes and take a deep breath. Only because I know that hitting my head against a wall will give me a headache and accomplish nothing positive.

Yes, to lose weight you must decrease your calorie intake. But, you also must increase your activity.

By decreasing your calorie intake, I recommend doing it safely and not drastically. Meaning, if you normally eat 2500cal/day, don’t drop to 1200cal/day. That will put a huge stress on your body and is potentially very dangerous.

How do you figure out what your calorie count should be?


This is a fantastic calculator! It will give you a “Fat Loss” and an “Extreme Fat Loss”. There is a warning associated with these that I will attach below:


Always try to aim for the “Fat Loss” daily calorie level. The “Extreme Fat Loss” level is effectively a rock bottom calorie level. Do not attempt to immediately drop your calories to this level hoping for the quick fix – this may ultimately backfire.

The Extreme Fat Loss level is listed to show the lowest calorie amount that could be considered. It should be seen as the exception rather than the rule.

It truly is better to burn the fat than to starve it.

Did you *hear* that? The extreme fat loss level is the lowest possible amount of calories you should be getting in a day. Anything below that isn’t acceptable and you’re essentially starving yourself. When you go into starvation mode, do you know what happens? Your body holds onto everything it gets and you actually GAIN weight. No bueno 😦
